Our Story

Over twenty years of spreading knowledge and promoting sustainable development in Sweden and the Aral Sea region.

The Swedish Aral Sea Society was formed out of a network that worked to counteract the waste of natural resources and environmental degradation in the Aral Sea region. The network was established as a result of an international conference held in 1998 by the UN Development Fund for Women (UN Women Sweden, formerly Swedish Unifem) in collaboration with Rädda Barnen and The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
