Yesterday, September 3, our summer course in Samarkand began for 15 selected Master’s students from Uzbekistan. We have successfully linked the course to an OSCE event, which is now funding our students. Björn Frostell is on site, and we can look forward to his reports in due course.
This is the first report by Björn Frostell
The first long day of the Sustainable Development Summer School started today. Everything has worked out more or less as planned, the only deviation is that we were not able to finish all the 14 student presentations. The eleven students that presented had prepared very well and I am convinced that Lars would have been very satisfied with the high quality of both the slides and the presentations. I learned a lot and must say most of the presentations fulfilled very high quality expectations and it was clear that top students have been selected for the summer school.
In the afternoon we had a guided walking tour through old Samarkand and Temur’s statue and memorial site as well as other mosques in central Samarkand – a nice tour. The long day ended with a nice dinner in old Samarkand. Now, I am pretty exhausted!
